Ayurveda, lets dive deeper


So what is Ayurveda?

I get this question a lot, or I hear - Ayurveda is to complicated. Yes, Ayurveda can be complicated, but I don't feel it should be and doesn't have to be.

Lets dive into Ayurveda.
First, how did I get to Ayurveda, lets go back a little ways. In 2006, I started my training at the Maharishi Ayurveda Center in Lancaster, MA. I had just finished a program at Dana Farber with Energy work and massage for cancer clients, when I started the training at the Ayurvedic center. The similarities between the two made for the perfect transition. Both looked at the importance of balance, digestion, proper sleep and the positive outlook of the emotions. As I dove into Ayurveda it was clear that being in balance with yourself and your environment effected every element of health. This was the beginning of a path in a  holistic lifestyle.

Ayurveda, lets dive deeper.
Ayurveda is one of the oldest known healing systems dating back thousands of years to India. This system was practiced and then handed down though families that would have trained their entire lives, and then taken over as the town Vaidya( Ayurvedic practitioner or Dr).  This was a healing method with much similarities to TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine), they pull in the full body, emotional and spirit connection. Ayurveda has many branches of healing when working with you, from yoga, meditation, massage and herbs to create a whole body in balance.

Over time, with families shifting, moving, along with environmental and government changes, much of the practice was lost. This is now changing, we are revisiting these traditional techniques and bringing them into our modern world.

I will start to share with you in the coming week ways to add Ayurveda into your daily routine and  how some of the ways Ayurveda was applied still ring true today.

Energies are Shifting


In the space around, and in my own world, energies are shifting. This shift gives room for change, for personal and spiritual growth. Making room for new space and allowing old thoughts and patterns to melt away and expand your true self.

As the seasons change, the heat of the summer shifts to damp cool fall weather, the natural world prepares for changes. The trees pull in the energy, prepare to settle back inward through the cold winter months and so its the same with animals in the wild. This is the time for moving with the change and settling into self to prepare for whats to come.

Like the busy bee from flower to flower, I have been shifting, jumping from working to preparing, from Shrewsbury to Paxton. Paxton is now open, and I am moving with this change and preparing to settle in with my space.

The next few months I will learn, as Shrewsbury has been up and running, and now Paxton has joined. We will learn how and grow as we settle into the months ahead and find balance in both Shrewsbury and Paxton.

The energy moves and shifts around us everyday and with the seasons, take your time in your own self. Give space to the energies of change to allow yourself to move and flow in calm.
