Cool down with a massage

With the summer heat, outdoor sports and picnics, theirs nothing better then to cool down with a massage! Keeping the body cool during the summer months helps with balancing the emotions, sleep patterns, cooling the skin and overall ease of the summer months. Cooling the body with massage can be done at home by adding essential oils to coconut or jojoba oil and apply to the body at least once a week. If doing a self massage does not fit into your routine, you can book a cooling summer massage, or apply your massage or the the feet and back of the neck to bring in some cooling. Not sure where to start with your cooling massage oil? I would go with coconut, aloe or jojoba oil and add lavender & rosemary essential oil, orange & peppermint or chamomile & sandalwood, any of those combinations will bring in a cooling along with grounding to help the mind and body during the summer months. This month Metta Wellness has a cooling summer blend of coconut and aloe oil wi...

Cool down with a massage this summer!

Welcome summer! I love the heat, I love the summer. This does not mean I always enjoy a heating massage on a 90 degree day. Keeping up with your wellness routine throughout the year can be a challenge, but heat should not be one of them. With a blend of coconut oil to hydrate and cool the body, Aloe oil to also cool down the body, balance the heaviness of the coconut and relieve any dry itchy sun(or bug) damaged skin. With this cooling blend of oils you can then add in essential oils during the massage to create your personal massage and to enhance the effects of this massage. Essential oils will allow the senses to wake and open, the benefits will be felt for a longer period of time. Essential oils that encourage and  ...

It can also be the time to work on or focus in on the connection you have with your partner.   Finding ways to spend time, share with your partner that are not the day to day things are important.  We get caught up in out lists of going to work, paying the bills, making dinner, but when was the last time you said to your partner," tonight I'm doing a massage for you"! Essential Oils for Allergies

Allergies can be difficult for many people to deal with, so finding ways to relive some so the symptoms is one way to deal with the discomfort. One way we find relief form allergies is through a few simple steps that we add to our daily routine. 1tsp raw honey with turmeric and black pepper honey works as a cleaning agent to the body, so as it moves through the system it picks up things and carries them through( like pollen's, dirt)  to helps eliminate them black pepper and turmeric work together, the black pepper activates the turmeric and the body, while the turmeric is an anti-inflammatory agent for the body. Allergies cause discomfort equaling inflammation that will result in puffy eyes, stuffy nose, etc. Essential oil diffuser I take a blend of peppermint, lemon and lavender essential oils and add to my diffuser at home and will run at night to help clear the air, leaving smelling fresh and opening my sinus passages. I will also do a second blend of the pe...

Welcome to Kahpa Season

Winter is the time of Kapha season in Ayurveda, a time to find the balance between the cold and wet outdoors and the dry and hot indoors. Kapha is ruled by earth and water, they are slow to move but easy temperament, can be calm lethargic, but when out of balance they are prone to colds, weight gain and depression. The key is creating a routine for your self to bring balance into your space. Early rising, set the same  time to get up every day(it is said before 6am for kapha type is best for setting the day). Up early in the morning will start you off on a good routine. The same is for the end of your day, go to bed around the same time, this again will set that routine and you will find it easier to wake. Winter is cold and I am prone to eat warm, comforting foods to nourish and maintain the body during the long winter. With a kapha type adding in some ginger, cayenne to stimulate the system will help. Kapha is better with a light and fresh diet, but during the winte...
