Om

Like the Mantra on my foot, it is the lotus coming up from the mud, patience, and beauty comes through. This is for me powerful. Metta Wellness stands for "loving kindness", with the lotus this is always a symbol for me that working through and staying on your path beauty opens. Metta Wellness has been in a process of change, always moving forward, learning, and exploring along the way. As we moved into a new location, adding a second location and launching Metta Herbals into the online market and general public. Change, patience, and trust is my Mantra for this opening. Lets step back a little. In May Metta Wellness moved into its new location in Shrewsbury, calming, easily located and just the right size.  This space also allows for the growth in Metta Wellness and Herbals. Taking time to set up and shift into this space (still organizing a few small details), adjusting and refocusing on the space and the path for Metta Wellness & Herbals. Change was our Ma...

Morning Mediation

Good Morning! Yes, starting the day with pranayama then meditation is my key to moving through this hectic world in a calm peace. When I work with my clients I am always looking at ways to find balance in the busy life we live. Starting your day off with pranayama( breathing technique) then into a mediation to start out in the day ready for everything. My meditation is the mantra, So Hum, as I sit and relax, I breath in So out Hum and find myself settling in, the energy balancing out and the thoughts and worries floating away. Find the way to start your day, creating an open space to relax and breath.

Massage for the Immune System

During the long winter months, hot dry summers, day to day of bills, work, family life, we take from our immune system. Some of us go through life with limited stress, or a relaxed view and have found a way to work with our environments.Stress is not always a bad thing, some stress comes from change, or a new job, moving into a new home. Wherever the stresses come in, they can take a toll from the body, so learning, or having ways to calm and relax the mind body will help how you approach stress. Stress over time is packed away in the body and without ways to relax(some of us it is our personality are calming) it can build up over time. This build up can come out through headaches, constipation, anger, sleep issues and overtime create autoimmune issues. My work brings me to a space that I can share meditation, massage, Ayurvedic herbs , Ayurvedic body-work and Thai massage with my clients. Learning together and working towards a wellness goal is such a powerful way to focus on bal...

Moving Forward with Change

As I move Metta Wellness into its new space this week, I am guided by the simplicity of change. I went to a Buddhist Temple this weekend, and was given a light, a small candle to sit in front of the Buddha, and as I did I stepped back and observed in calm and full of peace. It was then explained that the candle is a symbol of guidance( as you enter your home at night, you turn on the light, now you can see) this is the candle left behind. Inside you you have that light, and you can clearly see. This was a powerful time, as any change, we fell fear, anxiety and excitement and moving your work is no different. This calm in this move, the candle just reminds you that you have the light to see clearly inside of your self. With this change, I have come to appreciate that vulnerability, in myself and the people around me. As I move forward and move Metta Wellness into our new space, I welcome this change, this is a time to reflect, learn and grow with this change in front of us. ...

Soothing Turmeric Almond Tea

Soothing Turmeric Almond Tea:  4 cups milk of choice 1/2 tsp ground turmeric( I have done it with grated fresh, be aware of the stained orange hands) 1 tsp minced ginger honey, to taste   *to reduce pitta(heat/fire) replace with maple syrup In a saucepan combine everything but honey, medium heat till warm, not a boil. remove from heat, add your honey to your liking. Relax and enjoy. Turmeric is a natural antibiotic , helping ward off colds, sore throats, and good for your complexion, so not a bad idea to have this herb handy.  We have added ginger to help with digestive fire, keeping the body's natural systems moving, contributing to a healthy immune system. Your choice of milk, almond, soy, whole, etc. If dealing with a cold, or congestion it is recommended to go towards a dairy free side, I go with the almond for this one. This tea is soothing and calming, ideal to add to your nightly routine.
