Caring for yourself in the Summer Travels

As we come to the end of another month, summer will quickly come to an end. Now is a great time to sneak away and take those last minute trips.

Take your time when planning your trip, or just a day to sneak away and pack a few self care items.
Look ahead at your journey,

  • are you spending time outside,
  • will you be in the car for long hours sitting or driving.
  • are you staying at a friends house, rental or hotel
  • are their potential allergens , such as a pet do or environmental differences from your own space.
Taking just a few minutes and looking at a few simple questions, you can then plan your travel care packet for your trip.As you have seen in the past month, I pack my herbal teas, allergy oils, cold capsules, and magnesium lotion.

I am packing for my trip now, and looking at the fact that I will be camping, hiking and harvesting herbs, I will make sure I have my care packet supplied with herbal bug spray, anti itch stick and immune boosting teas to help with my outdoor journey.

So take a few minutes and plan your herbal care kit.

Morning Mediation

Good Morning! Yes, starting the day with pranayama then meditation is my key to moving through this hectic world in a calm peace. When I work with my clients I am always looking at ways to find balance in the busy life we live. Starting your day off with pranayama( breathing technique) then into a mediation to start out in the day ready for everything. My meditation is the mantra, So Hum, as I sit and relax, I breath in So out Hum and find myself settling in, the energy balancing out and the thoughts and worries floating away. Find the way to start your day, creating an open space to relax and breath.

Pratice of Prevention

Ayurveda is about the practice of prevention. When we look at the root of the issue, we work to find a balance as we move forward. Ayurveda takes where you are today, what are the areas of your dosha(your body type through your constitution)and looks at creating balance. We can start with prevention today and bring in a balance to help decrease some of the issues now and later. Looking at ways to find a balance through massage, meditation, yoga herbs and daily routine we can focus on prevention. This is what I love about Ayurveda. Looking at what is going on when a client comes in , looking for the root cause and how to create balance for that person.A lung issue or inflammation, its not just an issue, it is directing you to find the root, how you got the inflammation. Ayurveda looks at you, your dosha as an individual and works with you to find the areas that may be out of balance and ways to strengthen before the issue arises, or is fully out of balance. Ayurveda is the practic...

This summer has been one for looking at many tools to keep cool since we are not accustom to the heat for the amount of time we have had this summer. Even for me, loving this heat, I had to go to some of my cooling tips from Ayurveda. So, let me share with you some of the ways that I have stayed cool this summer:   Coconut oil , apply coconut oil to my feet and face to keep the skin hydrated and cool. You could add in some essential oils to bring in a calming effect. Blueberry nettle tea : this tea is refreshing and energizing tea. I like to  make this tea, let it set at room temperature then add in frozen blueberries to keep the tea cool, not cold. I will switch this out with hibiscus cooler , just as cooling. Earthing, this is one I like to do in the late morning or early in the evening ...
